I can’t believe it has taken me 4 months to post this. Yes, my precious Little K has just turned 4 months a few days ago and I thought I should post some of his newborn photos, you know, before he turns into a teenager. LOL. I’m proud to say that Little K has, just like his brother, come out on his due date! Exactly on the day, which apparently only happens 2% of the time. 🙂 This time around, because we had Little J around, it was quite stressful preparing for the labour. For one, most midwives told me that the second baby usually comes earlier than the first, and because my first baby came out on the due date, they predicted the second one would be as early as 38 weeks. That stressed me out because we’re here in Sydney with no family and my mum was only supposed to arrive a few days before my due. The thought of delivering early, to leave Little J with someone else possibly overnight (never happened before) and to care for a newborn without help was enough to send shivers down my spine. Thank goodness Little K was such a good boy and everything happened according to plan.
This time around, labour was slightly quicker but more painful than the first. I think we arrived at the hospital around 10pm and baby was out after 12am. On hindsight, that sounded like an awfully short time even though it didn’t feel that way back then. The big difference though, was that Little K was sleeping like an angel throughout my time at the hospital! So much difference from his brother. I remember Little J came out and within a few minutes started crying. After we wrapped him up, he cried every time we put him in the bassinet, so and both Saucer and I had to take turns holding him! Night time was a nightmare because he kept crying unless I held him, and I ended sleeping while holding him in my arms (note: not much sleep at all!).
Little K, on the other hand, slept a 6-hour stretch on the first night (in the bassinet!), and another 5-hour during the day, making me feel so free and giving me lots of time to rest and recuperate. Also, being in the hospital without having to handle the active brother almost felt too comfortable for me to leave. LOL. I was also very fortunate to be given a private room even though I was there as a public patient. Score! 🙂 Everyone came to visit the next day, including Little J, which made me realise how much I missed him. Here are some of the pictures taken at the hospital during my 2-night stay there.
Sometimes I can’t believe that I’m now a mother of 2 kids. I used to think that I wouldn’t want to have another one after having Little J, because it was so exhausting and challenging! But what do you know? I am so glad Little K has come into our lives. He’s such a smiley and happy baby, always smiling to whoever that’s smiling at him, melting many strangers’ hearts. I can’t wait for him to grow up and start playing with Little J. I hope they will be best friends forever. <3
