It’s the weekend again! Due to the hot and humid weather in KL, one of the more popular activities during the weekend (especially in the hot afternoon) is chilling out and shopping in the multitude of air-conditioned shopping malls around the city. If you’re bored with always going back to the same malls, then you might want to check out the latest offering from Berjaya Times Square (BTS). The new Central Park at the 3rd floor of BTS embodies the charms of its eponymous twin in New York, except that it’s indoors. Located in the very heart of BTS, the green shopping area promises to be a new retail experience like no other.

This 5,000 square feet of lush green landscape that houses 40 shop lots is a blend of modern simple designs and open spaces, largely inspired by the intrepid nature of Mother Earth. The interesting thing to note is that Central Park was built the middle of the 3rd floor, where there used to be just open air. Therefore, a lot of thought and effort went into designing this area to ensure that the new platform can support the weight of the booths and the landscaping around them. From the top, Central Park is filled with lush greenery above the transparent polycarbonate ceiling, allowing warm lights to spill through it, thereby creating a forestry feeling.

One of the stalls at Central Park
Walking around Central Park gave us a cozy and rustic feeling, almost like we were in a forest. The closely spaced stalls with narrow paths made me feel like I was walking inside a maze! The retail scene here focuses largely on accessories, apparels, beauty care as well as toys and books.

Apples to symbolize New York
I have always wanted to go to New York, but while I still don’t have the chance to go there, the Central Park at BTS will do, at least for now. 🙂
